Q: What specifically about the support from the instructor helped your learning?
-
This person is my favorite professor I’ve had in college. She is reasonable, funny, respectful of other’s time and needs, and understands that we are all people struggling to get through this term together.
-
Amazing!!!
Q: What specifically about instruct or communication helped your learning?
- I really enjoyed this course because the instructor set aside ‘mini lecture’ points in the class to explain in simpler terms what the mathematics and material could be used towards in real-life applications. The instructor clearly identified why the math was used, how it was implemented, and to what extent it could be applied to our own lives as students and people.
Q: What specifically about the organization of this course helped your learning?
- everything was such well organized which made studying so much easier

It was really helpful to get our work back and be able to redo the mastery assessments, I thought it was more conducive to my learning to be able to go back and learn from where I made mistakes.
-
Everything is so good!
Q: What else would you like to say about your learning experience in the course? Please avoid personal comments about the instructor.
- Easily my favorite math instructor and class I’ve had at UO. That’s saying something since it was business calculus.

Mrs. Foster is amazing at providing support and making sure she always around to help. She has made this math class very enjoyable thus far.
-
I really enjoyed having office hours right after class and the morning before our homework assignment was due, it gave me the chance to ask any questions and gain clarification before turning the homework in. Leigh was great in actually offering us support and working through our problems, which really helped me through the course and made me feel more confident in the material.
-
Professor Foster was always available to answer any questions during her office hours. She was always supportive and helpful and never hesitant to answer any questions. Her office hours really helped me succeed and do well in her class.
-
Office hour availability was definitely the most beneficial element of this course.

I go to office hours at least weekly with questions about content I’m struggling with and she’s always happy to help!

Great class. Great instructor
Q: What else would you like to say about your learning experience in the course? Please avoid personal comments about the instructor.
- Calc I taught by Professor Foster has been the best math class I have taken at the UO. Professor Foster is extremely understanding and willing to help any student that is struggling. She makes sure we understand the material and she also goes through the notes in a very detailed manner which helps the whole class understand it better. Ms. Foster is also always available for office hours where she is willing to help any student with any work. Ms. Foster was an extremely helpful and beneficial teacher that helped me understand and comprehend Calc.

Q: What specifically about the clarity of instructions helped your learning?
- everything is well described, professor is good at teaching
Q: What specifically about the quality of course materials helped your learning?
- The Mastery Assessments help instill confidence in me when preparing for midterms and finals. I can honestly say that for each midterm I’ve only studied for one day due to the quality of the mastery assessments being a strong preparation material.
Q: What specific change in instructor communication would help your learning?
- I think the communication was amazing, but at times, I felt as if a step or two was skipped on the notes which distorted my understanding. Eventually, she would reach out and ask for questions and all of my questions would be answered. She seemingly holds the characteristics of a very good professor.
